Day 2: Saving the Planet one Step at a Time

Day 4: Changing the World One G&T at a Time
October 2, 2010

When was the last time you were in your local Public Library? I’m in ours often, sometimes as much as twice a week. I use it for all kinds of services – borrowing books, ( Blogging for Dummies came in very handy over the past month!), dvd’s, story time for my son, a great coffee bar, free wifi, special speakers. The list goes on. The library offers so much for our family that I wanted to feature public libraries as one of my first GIVES. I know you can get just about any book online these days and read them on your IPAD but there is something very special about the feel of the paper under your hands and being able to curl up in bed and fall asleep with a book on your chest ( I have perfected the art of still holding the book up and sleeping ).

Give 3 / Day 3

Today, I made a book donation to the West Vancouver Public Library. I had a few new books that had been sitting untouched for far to long on the book shelf that needed to be put to some good use. If I donated the books to the library I can then borrow them any time and now this also includes anyone else that cares to do so. Books are to be shared, discussed and enjoyed by as many people as possible. The more our children read the more they learn, they more there brains are in use, the more they get to explore the world through their learning.  In turn this the less they watch TV they watch and the less internet searching they do.

Don’t have the time to GIVE today? Let me help you. The Literacy Site makes giving just one click away. Click onto the link I provided and follow the message. For every click they receive on their site sponsors will pay for books for children. 100% of the donation goes to books. We love this. Take 10 seconds and do your GIVE of the day.

I would also like to thank the public library system for all they GIVE to us. It is a gift to have such a resource – not everyone around the world is so fortunate.

P.S. Cost of GIVE – nothing the books were originally gifts. Time commitment: 10 seconds to click on The Literacy site, no time for the book donation at the Library I was returning books at the same time.

  1. And how many times has someone given us books, on a whim, just because…. I love this give and the libraries need it! Hope Nic found a great book today!

This is a great give. I had always donated my books to Goodwill but I love the idea of taking them to the library where they can be shared instead – thanks for the brilliant idea!
