Day 7: Recycle for Education
October 5, 2010
Day 9: The Loan Shark!
October 7, 2010

“There are 925 million undernourished people in the world today. That means one in  seven people do not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life. Hunger and malnutrition are in fact the number one risk to the health worldwide — greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.” This is a quote from the World Food Programme.

As a parent and especialy as a mother, I couldn’t image what it would be like to not have the ability to feed my child. I worry when my son skips a meal or a “snack” time.  I worry when he doesn’t drink enough water, eat enough vegetables or whole grains . Food is one of the basic needs I think every person on the planet should have access to. Today I can help with that.

The World Food Bank has partnered with Kraft on a project called the Delicious Difference Week. Their goal is to donate 500,000 meals to help feed children around the world. It’s only for a week, October 4 – 9, 2010 so you can get on board now.

Follow my Give of the Day and you can see how easy it is. Next to no time and no money to help donate 35 meals!

GIVE 8 / DAY 8

I was doing some work on 365GIVE this morning wondering what my GIVE would be today. I didn’t have anything planned and decided to leave it up to “stars.” They made it easy for me today. I had an email waiting for me from the World Food Program that they had joined me on Twitter. I was thrilled someone had joined me and like I  always do, I send a response to thank them for following 365give. When I hit reply I was directed to their Twitter page and the first post that was there went something like this:

“If you could provide a meal to 5 children in 3 clicks would you?”

I couldn’t resist, so I did.  I was directed to the Kraft Foods Facebook page. I had a choice “Like” their page and provide 10 meals to people around the world in need. Done.  The tempatation got even greater and I could upload a picture to their “picture mosaic” and they would donate another 20 meals. 30 meals 3 minutes. To top it off, I watched their YouTube video and just by watching the video another 5 meals were donated. .

35 meals donated today. It’s a good day.

GIVE done for today and one that felt really good as I know I was helping to feed people. I feel like this little bird dropped that GIVE at my doorstep this morning.

The links are all here. Just do it. Help Kraft and The World Food Programme reach their goal of 500,000 this week.

Time Commitment: 3 minutes / Cost: 0
