This GIVE pulled on my heart strings as I am a mother of a young child. We actually happen to be in Mexico visiting my parents and whenever I travel – which has been a lot with my son over the past 3 years – there is one thing we always bring. Nicolas’ baby blanket. It is soft, cozy and no matter where we go he can wrap himself up in it and it gives him a sense of home.
What if you were a Mother somewhere in this world that couldn’t even provide something as simple as warm a a blanket to keep you newborn baby warm? I’m hoping today’s GIVE has helped one Mom somewhere in the world keep her child warm.
Day 105 / Give 105
Plan Canada has a goal we can all relate to. They want to end poverty around the world. They are one of the world’s oldest and largest development agencies. One of the things I like about Plan Canada is they want to create sustainable long lasting solutions to poverty. Here is a quote from their site:
“Through programs in 66 countries, we give children, families and communities the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty and build sustainable solutions with measurable results for improving their own lives.”
I have donated to Plan Canada a number of times in the past as I like to direct my donation to very specific items that are important to me. On this occasion my donation budget was small but Plan Canada had the perfect item that made me feel like I was doing something for another Mom. We all need a little help at different times in our life and knowing a baby would now stay warm with a blanket from the moment they were born made me feel great about this GIVE.
Do you have fond memories of you blanket when you were a child. Is there $10 you could spare for a blanket for a child that may not have one?
