Day 125: $1.00 to Change the World

Sometimes a plan just doesn’t come together. I was so excited going into this week of giving as I had a plan. I don’t normally have a “plan” for my GIVES to far in advance, but I came across a great organization I thought was more than worthy of supporting. I went to make my first donation and discovered I was not able to. But I have a back up plan to still help them out and do my GIVE today.

Give 125/ Day 125

This week was suppose to be Philanthroper.com week. I had planned to support this great organization and the not-for-profits they are supporting by giving a dollar every day for a week.  Each day  the Philanthroper features a different organizations and for $1.00 you can become part of a group fund that will go directly to the charity. It’s a bit like crowd funding but 100% of the proceeds go directly to the chosen charity.

Unfortunately, you are only able to donate with an US bank account. Since I am Canadian and do not have a US account, I am not able to lend my support. So I will ask you to donate if you can instead. I will post what the organization is every day and provide the link to Philanthroper.com where you can make your daily donation.

Today the charity is the Kids in Need Foundation. The organization tackles a very basic problem by collecting and distributing roughly $38 million in school supplies each year at no charge – directly benefiting 1.6 million students and 100,000 teachers annually. And they do so with a relatively minuscule budget and only a small handful of staff.

Please take a look and donate. $1.00 is all all you need and you can watch the total number of donations grow throughout the day. Yesterdays charity got over $250 donated.

Since I was not able to do my GIVE as per planned I instead went into instant action for a Mom in need as my GIVE today. I got an urgent email from an organization I support called Spectrum. They had a new Mom that was in need of help with her newborn son. The young girl is just 16 years old and needs some basic items for her child. A crib and cloths were the main priority but I am sure diapers and other supplies would be of great help as well. I sent out an all points bulletin to my “Mom friends” to see who could help.  I already have baby cloths I can pass on but I would love to supply a crib as well.

If you can help please email me changetheworld@365give.ca. I am happy to pick one up at any location in Vancouver.

Helping a Mom in need is one of my passions. There is no job that is harder and you need all the support you can get.
