Day 155: What’s Your Favourite Food?

I couldn’t resist this GIVE as I love food and have a passion for feeding the hungry.

What do you think the cost of your favourite food would be and calculate to feed children in poverty stricken areas of the world? Follow along and you can find out.

Day 155: Give 155

I received a letter from the World Food Program in my inbox today. I have donated to them on a number of occasions. They have started a new campaign and I wanted to see how it worked. Here is a copy of the letter so you too can test your favourite food.

Dear Jacqueline —

What’s your favorite food?

Today, it got even better. It can change the lives of hungry children. You’ll be surprised how many.

See how many children your favorite meal can feed.

WeFeedback is a new initiative of the World Food Programme, providing school meals to children who may otherwise have no food and no future.

It’s simple. It’s fun. It’s going to help end child hunger. Here’s how it works:

Enter your favorite food into our Feedback Calculator.
Estimate its cost and select the number of servings.
See how many schoolchildren will receive a hot meal if you donate it (or “feedback”)!
Then invite your friends, your family, and your colleagues to share their favorite food… and track your overall network impact in real time.

It’s a small action with the potential to make an enormous collective impact. Starting today, we can build a global community that will share food, change lives, and revolutionize giving. It starts with you.

So I did it. My son loves salmon sushi and I get it for him all the time. I typed in salmon sushi x 1 order Cost $10.00.

Before I tell you how many children I fed when I completed this small action I will tell you my son would actually eat 2 orders in one sitting plus a few extras. But I am only feeding one child.

My son’s favourite food fed 40 children today.

Wow! Amazing! I will now be reminded of those children every time we have sushi. I will tell my son about it as well. It’s never to early to teach your child about the many needs of the world.

Just try it. Follow the links and see how far your favourite food will go to children in need. I really feel like I changed the world today.

Time Commitment: 2 minutes

Cost: $10.00
