191: The Stock Market Creates Soup for the Soul Tweet Your Favourite Soup!

The Stock Market

What is the one thing we all love to eat when we are feeling under the weather?

Soup. Chicken, tomato, barley, leek, sweet potato, the list goes on. What’s your favourite to make you feel better?

I had a chance to give a little feel good soul soup to a family member that desperately needs a feel good “give” today.

Day 191: Give 191

My cousin was recently diagnosed with a very rare disease called Cryptococcus Meningitis. It is as terrible as it sounds and has her hospitalized for the next 8 weeks. Her treatment won’t stop there and will continue for many months to come. to This terrible fungus attaches to your brain which gives you migraine type headaches that just don’t go away. These go on almost all day every day for her. In the moments she can find some relief threw pain medicine she may get a chance to read a paper or eat some good food. That rules out anything they feed you at the hospital.

At the moment she is not even allowed visitors other than her husband and one other immediate family member to help with her care. We had already sent an orchid to cheer up her room but I have been feeling rather helpless that I haven’t been able to help in any other way. Finally today an opportunity arose that I could do a little something that may help. I had lunch with her sister-in-law today that is in from Ontario to care for her at the hospital. We had lunch in Granville Island and I was inspired while sitting in the market with the one item I thought may help. Soup.

Granville Island has an amazing selection of food to choose from all prepared by unique individual restaurateurs. One that caught my eye was a place called The Stock Market. My mother commented how much she liked this particular place. What better gift than a great selection of homemade soups. I could send them back to my cousin via her sister-in-law – it was my chance to give.

It was hard to choose from the large selection of fresh soups today. After some contemplation I chose 4 bags and I felt at least a little better I was doing something. Whether my cousin eats the soup or her husband I hope it gives each of them a little love from us.

Tweet or Facebook us your favourite soup that makes you feel better and a prayer for my cousin would go a long way.
