194: Kiva Just Keeps on Giving

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4nn0Yf3MsM&feature=related

I have said it before and I will say it again. I love Kiva. Shortly after beginning 365give I made a Kiva loan for the first time. Since that first investment of $125 this will be my 4th Kiva post as the money I “gave” keeps coming back as my loans get repaid. I am then able to give / loan it to another group of people or individual that could use a little leg up in the world. What better way to get out of poverty than to help yourself with a hand up rather than a hand out.

Day 194 / Give 194

Kiva is give as simple as 1,2,3.

1) Lend money (min. $25.00)  to a group or individual you choose from their site.

2) Wait

3) Reloan the funds as they get paid back to you via your Kiva account.

Easy give for you and a huge give to the person that gets their loan. Sometimes we just a hand to help pull us up and Kiva reaches out across the world to give that hand through our giving. .

Today I had a $70.00 credit I could use and reloan to another person or group. You can only lend in $25.00 in crements so I decided to loan $50 this time and keep some money in my Kiva bank. I didn’t have to go far to search for the right person. I have certain criteria I like to look for when loaning money. What’s your criteria?

I usually choose a women or group of women, a country that is great need and a mother. My reasons are my own and Teresita got the first 10% of her loan funded with my give today.

“Teresita is a married woman with six children that lives in the Philippines. Three of the children are in school. She is a very hard working entrepreneur. Teresita is 49 years old. Teresita has a buying and selling of home products business in the Philippines. Teresita requested a $450 loan to buy more home products to sell.”

Teresita I hope you know that hands from around the world, people of different colours, nationalities, religions and sex are all coming together to give you that hand to help you reach your goals and dreams.

Time Commitment: 5 minutes

Cost: $57.00 of my Kiva Credit ( $7.00 donation directly to Kiva for the great work they do everyday)
