Many of us have heard the term “Pay If Forward.”
It’s a simple concept: “One act of kindness can change everything.”
Today’s give is based on this principle by paying forward some parking to a stranger. I am hoping it will inspire you to “Park it Forward” one day as well.
Day 329: Give 329
If one act of kindness or “give” can create a ripple effect that has the potential of changing the world isn’t it worth a try?
I had the opportunity to spend half a day in one of the most beautiful public parks in the world, Stanley Park. It has it all – ocean front, sweeping mountain views, beaches, hiking trails, an old grown forest, playgrounds, biking trails – the list goes on. I feel blessed to live just a short car ride from the park and we had chance to enjoy it this weekend.
One of the ways Stanely Park pays for the maintenance of the park is by charging to park. The fee is not outrageous considering what you get at the park but a full day of parking is $10.00. For many that is a deal breaker to enjoy it’s splendour.
I paid for a full day parking pass as I wasn’t sure how long we would be there for and shortly after 2:00 pm my 4 year old son started to fade. It was time to head home. As I got into the car I noticed another family waiting for our parking spot. It struck me I could “Pay it Forward” in the moment. I grabbed my parking pass that would be good for the balance of the day and I gave it to the family waiting for our spot. Not only did they get a great parking spot (always feels like a gift in Stanley Park on a busy day) but they got to park for free.
I am hoping one day they will remember my Random Act of Kindness and Pay it Forward in their own unique way. In turn that person will hopefully do the same and so on and so on.
What is your favourite Pay it Forward act of kindness you have done? Share it with 365give we would love to hear all the stories of giving. Leave us a comment.
