The Power of 5 Minutes

First class give: Our small group of 4 students were so excited to see how much litter they could pick up in the school cafeteria, hallways, and even school bathrooms in just 5 minutes! They set a timer and had a fun competition!

The Power of 5 Minutes

We began our class 365 Give Challenge yesterday after watching the inspirational TED TALK , and actually video chatting with Jacqueline Way to get more ideas on what children can do to make a positive difference in the world. We generated a list of “gives” that could be done individually, as a family, and as a class. Students were excited to do something meaningful for others and were able to see how in just 5 minutes they made the school cleaner, felt better about themselves, and released some pent up energy as they moved quickly to pick up litter. Other students who saw them, joined in to help, and the Custodian was so appreciative that he was interested in joining the 365 Give Challenge himself!
