Woman’s Day

Today we "fight" against domestic violence! We share organizations that support the victims and we write texts to inspire!
My text:
2019. March 2019. 13 victims of domestic violence in Portugal. March 8th. Woman's Day. Day of the gender that suffers the most from this type of violence. 21st century. century of changes, century of equality, century of evolution, but will it be such a big evolution? Are we regressing or simply continuing to be savage animals, who are guided by their instincts of violence? How can we speak of evolution and equality when we see women, children and men (yes, men also suffer with violence) dying because of this? We are still in March, and 13 people have already died, in Portugal (eleven women, one child and one man) victims of this scourge that plagues our society. How can we, simply human beings, say with pride that we are rational beings, because we control our instincts, and then we find cases like these of people killing each other? Worse, they do it to those who are weak, to those who often hide in fear, to those who can’t defend themselves. Cowards. Yes, it could be a good word if it weren’t too soft to describe these "people" who commit such atrocities. People who play of being God and think that they can take someone’s life.
Today, domestic violence is a public crime and we all have the duty to report and try to help the other! Yes, the other, not only women, but also men, because there are also many to suffer, and often aren’t taken seriously and are mocked. This really prove that equality don’t exist, is it so ridiculous for a woman to be strong enough to hurt someone? Is it so ridiculous that there are men who are also afraid? But today is the day of the women, and these are the main affected by the equality that we speak ... For being seen as equal and not seen as the fragile gender ... That is why few of us die (irony) ... But it is not only for that! It is also because of people who have often ignore the violence instead of reaching out to whoever needs it!
Say no to violence! Don’t hide! Don’t be afraid, there will always be someone trying to support you!
(Victims’ names)
When can we live our lives in peace, as simply humans, respecting the differences of each other? We’re only in March. 13 victims in Portugal. The number will only continue to grow. Don’t contribute it for this, report it if you see or you know a case. Ask for help if you are a victim. Without shame, without fear, with your heads held high and with the certainty that you are survivors and you deserve better, you deserve a life in peace and without violence!
"Don’t be silent. Remember that your silence facilitates domestic violence.
Your silence doesn’t protect the victim but protects the aggressor. "
